Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma serves 27 counties across western Oklahoma, and supporting young people is a core part of our mission. Our internship program gives college students a firsthand look at lending, finance, and the agricultural businesses we serve, while also helping us invest in our future workforce.
Interns spend time in every part of the operation. As loan officer Cody McMurphy explains, understanding the full picture of how Farm Credit works is essential, whether a student is interested in lending, accounting, or another area. The goal is real experience with real customers and real decision making.
Students like Charley Thrasher and Parker Jacks say the internship opened their eyes to new career paths in agriculture and finance. For Charley, seeing different sides of the industry helped her find direction. For Parker, learning about issues facing young and beginning farmers broadened his understanding of how Farm Credit supports rural communities.
Our team works to make the experience hands-on and meaningful. Loan officer Chris Steadman notes that interns are encouraged to jump in, make calls, ask questions, and learn by doing. Many interns, including those introduced through family or friends, have even turned the program into full-time careers.
As CEO Greg Livingston shares, the program is an investment in both young people and the future of Farm Credit. Interns bring fresh ideas, talent, and energy that help move the organization forward. For students interested in agriculture, finance, or rural community development, the Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma internship is a chance to learn, grow, and explore new possibilities.
