WOODWARD – February 20, 2024 – Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma is happy to welcome a new intern to our Alva location. Addie Hoeme is a Junior at Northwestern Oklahoma State University studying Agriculture with a minor in Business.
“Assisting young people to achieve education and career goals is important to rural Oklahoma & American agriculture. Investing time and resources in the next generation of agriculturalists, like Addie, is vitally important and something we focus on,” said Greg Livingston, CEO of Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma.
“I look forward to making new connections and learning different aspects of the Ag lending business during my internship with FCWO,” Hoeme said.
A 2022 graduate of Pratt High School in Pratt, KS, agriculture has always been part of Addie’s life. Her family owns and operates a starter yard near Preston, KS. They also have a commercial cow-calf operation and farm wheat and sudan feed for hay.
“My siblings and I have a small herd of our own. When I was ten, I purchased my first cow, a Red Angus, that I showed and still have in the cowherd. Growing up, I was very active in 4-H where I showed pigs, sheep, cattle, and horses,” Hoeme said. “In 4-H I also learned how to cook and sew, with my grandma. Most summers were spent helping my dad, working with livestock, or being part of the harvest crew for my dad and grandpa. Most weekends I find myself still driving the feed truck and checking cows with Dad,” she continued.
Addie would like to eventually earn a master’s degree, but she is currently looking to gain more experience in the field of Ag Business which is what led her to FCWO.
“I really appreciate and enjoy learning about all the ways that the staff at FCWO work to aid in the success of their customers – agriculturalists,” Hoeme concluded.
