Fire Prevention on the Farm & Ranch is a Year-Round Task

When stacking hay, don't stack it next to a structure.
Don't stack all of your hay together. Try to have separation in the stacks so that if they are to catch fire, the fire department is able to protect some of the hay and equipment has space to get to it and hopefully move it.
Back burns can be a good way to help prior to wildfire season.
Cutting fire breaks or mowing down grass is a great way to slow fire spread and allow fire departments a chance to get the fire under control.
When doing any welding or cutting have a fire watch with a fire extinguisher or water source on stand by.
Be careful using radian heat lamps. If you are using them, make sure they are secured and can't be knocked down by animals.
Inspect electrical outlets in barns and make sure they are clear of dust and debris.
Shut off engines when refueling, especially when inside a barn or any other structure.
Keep bedding or straw away from combustible. (3 feet minimum)
Keep Fire extinguishers that are up to date and charged on all equipment
